What is Black Rice?
'Black Rice' is a variety of rice, when uncooked, is very dark in appearance. After cooking it is more purplish in color than black. Unlike white rice, this type of rice is normally sold in 'unmilled' form keeping the husk intact. For many centuries, Black Rice had been made available only to emperors and had been highly protected and treasured especially in Asia. This type of rice is known to have high nutritional value since it is rich in iron and high in fiber.
